Komali
Noted by Esquire as one of 2011’s Best New Restaurants in America, Komali had some high points on the menu, like Oaxacan tamales with mole sauce & this tamarind margarita with a spicy salt rim. But while it may be one of the best new restaurants of last year, the existing go-tos in this genre are pretty hard to beat… In fact, the taco we had the next day for lunch at Velvet Taco was pretty damn delicious.

Excellent dinner last night with some friends at Campo in Oak Cliff. It’s amazing there because they brush their bread in duck fat. Also, I had a delicious drink with Buffalo Trace & pear juice. But the beautiful finishing touch? Poundcake with lemon curd & buttermilk ice cream.
